Lying with my baby,
underneath the stars,
Moon so bright and shiny
"Hey, I think that's Mars."
My truck bed is filled
with sleeping bags and pillows.
We hear the night sounds
and the wind in the willows.
This time is ours,
no one can take away.
We try to talk about something,
But think of nothing to say.
So we hold each other tightly,
and promise to never leave,
to keep this moment forever,
but we know that's just naive.
So we cherish the moments
that we can be as one.
Knowing it could end soon.
Something will ruin our fun.
Thunder off in the distance.
Clouds appear overhead.
Rain begins to fall on us.
We need an umbrella instead.
Rain falls down hard,
soaking us to the bone.
We run inside laughing,
only to hear the phone.
It's the babysitter calling,
telling us the news.
Kids are sleeping soundly
after a night of Blue's Clues.
So off to bed we go,
Thinking of the nice times we had.
Having kids at the babysitters,
hey, that's not half bad.
